I have had allergies and various forms of eczema and dermatitis throughout my whole life. However, things really seemed to come to a head when I was in my mid-20's. After a couple of diagnoses in 2011, I set out in search for information on how to treat and prevent my various skin issues. Unfortunately, I found it difficult to find reliable information, personal anecdotes, and useful tips on how to deal with my specific conditions. My goal for this blog is to document my adventures in dealing with my allergies, contact dermatitis, dyshidrotic eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, and chemical sensitivities.
I'm a female in my late 20's, currently located in Western Canada. I'm a PhD student, after having completed by Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and my Master's degree in molecular genetics. I'm a very science-minded individual, so when possible I will attempt to reference scientific peer-reviewed articles that support or refute certain aspects of treatment and prevention. However, sometimes "science" and "what works" haven't yet crossed paths. I will endeavor to point out the difference between information that is scientifically proven and that which is anecdotal in basis.
Please do keep in mind that I am NOT a doctor! At least not one that you should go to for diagnoses related to your health. All posts here are documentation of my own experiences and results of information gathering for personal use. If in doubt, please consult your doctor or specialist. I hope only to provide a source of insight and support for those that have similar experiences.
